OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — September is Hunger Action Month, and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (RFBO) is joining a nationwide effort to raise awareness about hunger and inspire action to end it.
Oklahoma has the second-highest food insecurity rate in the nation at 20.2%, according to data from Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study. The regional food bank said Oklahoma has the highest child food insecurity rate in the nation at 27.3%, with more than 263,000 children facing food insecurity statewide.
RFBO is working to eliminate food insecurity in the state and is asking Oklahoma to come together and fight hunger through volunteering, advocating, donating, or wearing orange to raise awarness…
