EUGENE, Ore. — A Mexican national who had previously been removed from the United States three times has been sentenced to federal prison for illegally re-entering the country.
Javier Osorio-Altamira, 50, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford for the District of Oregon announced.
According to court documents, Osorio-Altamira had been removed from the United States on three prior occasions. During his first illegal stay in the country, he attempted to force his way into an apartment and threatened to kill a woman while holding a 12-inch knife.
