4J confirms teacher accused of misconduct still in classroom

EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene School District 4J educator who was publicly reprimanded by the state following a 2021 investigation into his conduct toward female coworkers is still employed by the district and teaching engineering at Churchill High School.

Robin Chappell was disciplined by the district and the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission after a 4J investigation found he recorded a female coworker during a Zoom physical education class without her knowledge or permission and made inappropriate comments toward her.

The 2021 investigation found Chappell recorded the coworker for about 40 seconds while she was demonstrating exercises during a Zoom PE class. The district said he made comments about her workout attire and suggested she put her “bum” in the screen…
