Saline Mayoral Candidates Offer Competing Visions

Saline’s mayoral candidates offered voters different arguments Sept. 1, with incumbent Mayor Brian Marl pointing to his experience and record while challenger Michael McVey called for stronger oversight, fiscal discipline and long-term planning.

Saline Main Street Executive Director Mary Dettling asked the candidates 11 community-submitted questions during the debate at The 109 Cultural Exchange. A panel representing the League of Women Voters of Washtenaw County, The Saline Summit, The Sun Times News and Saline Main Street reviewed the questions, which were not shared with the candidates in advance.
