As she left a National Night Out celebration in Dorchester last month, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was pretty matter-of-fact about why she was backing challengers to two Beacon Hill powerhouses.
“We are in a really hard time in the world, and there’s already so many headwinds that we’re up against from the federal government,” Wu said. “We can’t have state senators representing Boston add to those obstacles. We need partners who join the city in running towards problems to find solutions.”
