Cleveland lost a grocery store on a historic site a few weeks ago, but a farmers market pilot program that city officials hope can make a difference now occupies the space, according to multiple reports.
Heinen’s closed July 31. The Warrensville Heights, Ohio-based chain opened the store inside the historic Cleveland Trust Building, known for its massive rotunda and other striking architectural flourishes, in 2015. The building, which first opened as a bank in 1907, had long attracted tourists and quickly became a grocery and prepared-foods resource for local residents and workers.
