Failed Fayetteville carjacking victim shot at Hardee’s is recovering with ‘long road’ ahead, fiancé says

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — One of three women shot over the weekend is sharing her recovery progress after a Cumberland County and Fayetteville Sunday morning crime spree that authorities said included two failed carjackings.

The shootings began just around 7 a.m. Sunday, just north of Fayetteville at a Messenger Drive home where the girlfriend of the suspect was shot, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The 52-year-old suspect then fled east to a Hardee’s at the corner of Ramsey Street and Andrews Road, where he tried to steal an occupied Toyota 4Runner in the drive-through, the Fayetteville Police Department said.

In the failed carjacking, a woman in the passenger seat was shot, with the SUV driver quickly heading for help at a nearby grocery store, police said…
