Police: Woman convicted in death of 1-year-old in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was found guilty Wednesday in connection to the death of a toddler in Kalamazoo, police say.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, 34-year-old Tiffany Briana Moore was convicted of felony murder, second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse by a jury Wednesday.

The charges date back to Oct. 28, 2023, when 1-year-old Jermany Coleman was found unresponsive by her mother at their home on Michigamme Woods. Police say the toddler had been in Moore’s care in the hours prior.

Coleman died at the hospital days later from blunt force injuries, according to police. Tyrone Shepperd was also with the child at the time of her death, police previously said.
