KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) will be suspending commercial air service for a week.
Flights will be temporarily suspended beginning at 12 a.m. next Saturday, Sept. 12, and are scheduled to resume Sept. 19, AZO said in a release.

The suspensions are for critical pavement, lighting, and airfield work associated with the 450-foot extension of Runway 17-35, which is designed to provide pilots with additional operational distance and improve safety margins.
The airport will remain open for rental car access and other customer needs, however.
