Woman dies in crash on I-81 near Tully, state police investigating

TULLY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a vehicle near Tully, state troopers confirmed, was deadly.

A statement from New York State Police said a 24-year-old Binghamton woman, who the agency did not name, died at the scene after she lost control of her car on the highway. Her car hit a guardrail, entered the travel lanes and hit a tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Troopers set up flares along Interstate 81 going northbound near the crash site. The incident happened not far from the Lafayette weigh station and caused traffic to back up for more than a mile.

Dozens of state troopers, along with Tully firefighters and medics, were on the scene to help drivers get through. A spokesperson for State Police said the investigation into the deadly crash remains ongoing…
