Judge offers 10-year sentence to man who stabbed woman 30 times in Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man accused of stabbing a woman 30 times in Syracuse pleaded guilty Tuesday and was promised 10 years in prison despite prosecutors seeking twice that sentence.

The man, Walter Parker IV, 30, pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the stabbing on Jan. 6 in the 600 block of Turtle Street on the city’s North Side.

Onondaga County Court Judge Gordon Cuffy said he would sentence Parker to 10 years in prison, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said…
