NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – After deadly alligator attacks in urban areas — one killing a 12-year-old boy, another a family dog — the state is expanding its recreational gator hunt. The first round of a gator lottery is over, and next month, hunters could take up to 10,000 more alligators.
Louisiana’s alligator population is thriving, with six over 10 feet long spotted in the Caernarvon Canal below Violet just this week.
