DENVER (KDVR) — The City and County of Denver now has new rules for recycling and composting. A universal recycling and composting ordinance went into effect on Sept. 1 as the result of the 2022 Waste No More ballot initiative approved by three in four voters.
Colorado landfills can receive as much as 8,000,000 tons of waste each year. The city said the new ordinance will make the environment cleaner and safer for everyone.

“One household or one apartment, maybe you think doesn’t make a difference, but when everyone is doing it together, all of that is going and being processed and turning into new product,” spokesperson Kelsie DeFrancia told FOX31.
Clearly marked and placed recycling bins will now be required at multi-family residential buildings, non-residential buildings, food businesses, permitted events and permitted construction and demolition projects…
