Rain changes outdoor plans today

A BIG CHANGE ARRIVES TODAY

Outdoor plans will feel very different as rain, cooler temperatures, and stronger winds move across the region. The change starts today, with rain spreading from the coast into the Portland metro and Willamette Valley by mid-morning, followed by an even more active day tomorrow.

RAIN FINALLY ADDS UP

This will bring the most significant widespread rainfall we’ve seen since spring. The Portland metro could pick up around a half inch or more through tomorrow evening, while parts of the Willamette Valley could reach 1 inch or more, with higher totals in the Coast Range and Cascades.

For many people, this will mean a noticeable change in how it feels outside and how outdoor plans get timed. Keep rain gear handy today, with showers becoming more widespread again tomorrow.

STRONG WINDS ALONG THE COAST

The coast will feel the strongest winds, with gusts generally reaching 35–45 mph through early this afternoon. A few exposed locations could see gusts of 55 mph or higher…
