Lane County man dies after being hit on Highway 126 near Veneta

LANE COUNTY, Ore. – A man walking along Highway 126 west near Veneta died after he was hit by a pickup truck on Sept. 1, according to the Oregon State Police.

OSP officials said the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. near milepost 48. A 24-year-old Elmira man was driving a silver Toyota Tacoma westbound when he hit Robert Bryan Richardson, 52, of Veneta. Richardson was walking westbound in the westbound lane. That part of the highway is unlit, and Richardson was wearing dark-colored clothing, state police said. Richardson died at the scene.
