KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – We are experiencing heat as we wrap up the workweek, but a mild cold front is on the way.
FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY – THURSDAY: Temperatures will continue to rise today, which is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. The record high, set in 2011, was 98 degrees. Since the forecast high is so close to this record, we are closely monitoring temperatures during the hottest part of the day. While we will mostly remain dry, there is a slight chance of a stray shower in the afternoon.
HEAT ADVISORY: A heat advisory is in effect for Thursday, as the heat index is expected to reach between 100 and 105 degrees due to high humidity.
FRIDAY: We are continuing the First Alert as we finish the workweek, with temperatures again reaching the mid-90s. There will be slight chances of spotty showers, and a stray storm is possible in the evening. Any rain should clear shortly after sunset…
