Cessna Rocked, Climbed Before Hitting PSP Helicopter In Carlisle: NTSB

A pilot acknowledged a police helicopter crew’s request to extend his flight path — but turned toward the runway instead, beginning a bizarre final sequence that ended with his Cessna slamming into the hovering chopper, according to federal investigators’s report on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The National Transportation Safety Board has released new findings on the Wednesday, Aug. 19 collision at Carlisle Regional Airport that killed 57-year-old Dr. Paul William Sokoloski of Hershey and seriously injured two Pennsylvania State Police troopers.
