HOMETOWN ENTERTAINMENT: Labor Day weekend brings parades, music and theater to the Roanoke Valley

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Labor Day weekend events across the region include parades, music festivals and a stage show, according to organizers.

Roanoke Labor Day Parade

The Roanoke Labor Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Roanoke. The parade starts on Campbell Avenue and ends at Williamson Road. The event is organized by the Western Virginia Labor Federation.

Marshall Tucker Band at Smith Mountain Lake

The Marshall Tucker Band is performing Friday at the Coves Amphitheater at Smith Mountain Lake. The band is known for hits including “Can’t You See” and “Heard It in a Love Song.” The show starts at 7:45 p.m. Tickets cost around $56 each.

Wine and Music Festival in Amherst

The 15th Annual Labor Day Wine and Music Festival is happening Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Rebec Vineyards in Amherst. The event features live music throughout the afternoon. General admission costs about $13 in advance or $15 at the door. Wine tastings cost extra and are not included in admission.

“Puffs” closes final weekend in Fincastle

Attic Productions’ show “Puffs,” a comedic parody of the Harry Potter series, is in its final weekend. Shows run through Sunday. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and youth under 18.

Front Porch Fest in Patrick County

Front Porch Fest is running now through Sunday at Spirithaven Farm in Stuart. The family-friendly music festival features more than 30 bands. Single-day tickets start at around $34, and multi-day passes are also available.
