Las Palmas to begin offering robot-assisted afib treatment, first of its kind in El Paso

EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) β€” Las Palmas Medical Center is offering a new treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat, using robotic machinery controlled by surgeons to operate in and around the heart.

Hospital officials said the therapy allows for precise treatment and a quicker recovery because it is minimally invasive.

Speaking to KFOX14/CBS4 on Thursday, Richard Aldersley, a former atrial fibrillation patient, said, β€œThe care in El Paso is extraordinary, and with this pioneering procedure it’s minimally invasive. Recovery time is very short and allowed me to get back to work.”…
