ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says scam callers are falsely claiming people missed court and have warrants, then asking for money or personal information.
In a Sept. 4 press release, the sheriff’s office said the callers are posing as Albany County Sheriff’s Office members and trying to make the calls sound legitimate. The release said callers may claim an arrest warrant has been issued, or is being issued, because of a missed court appearance.
