Jameela Jamil Cancels Show, Says Shes Really Sick After Botox Comments

Jameela Jamil, known for her role on The Good Place, is taking a step back from the public eye due to health issues. On September 4, the actress shared on Instagram that she has canceled a sold-out live show for her podcast Wrong Turns because her health has worsened in recent weeks.

“I’m so sorry to do this, but as you may have seen from various hospital pics over the past few weeks, I’ve been really sick with a fluke bad luck thing,” Jamil wrote, explaining the sudden change in plans. She added with some humor, “I can’t think of a bigger wrong turn than this.”

At 40, Jamil did not reveal specifics about her illness but emphasized the need to focus on recovery. “I just have to look after myself,” she said.

“Gonna go away for a bit and recover. Love you.

Listen to your bodies!” Highlighting how rare it is for her to cancel commitments, she noted, “I have never cancelled an appearance or booked job in my entire 18 year career so you can imagine how mad this must be over here.”

Jamil also expressed gratitude toward the nurses supporting her during this tough time and reassured fans she plans to reschedule the show when she’s feeling better. Despite her illness, she intends to keep engaging with followers through occasional posts from bed.

The actress has been candid about living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects connective tissues. In 2019, after receiving the Patient Advocate of the Year award from the Ehlers-Danlos Society, Jamil spoke about how misunderstood the condition remains. “It’s terrifying how many doctors still haven’t heard of it… So many people have it, and so many more people than we realize as they don’t know the symptoms,” she said at the time.

This health update follows recent headlines in which Jamil voiced her critical views on the widespread use of Botox among women her age. She shared her frustration, saying, “I can’t look at Botoxed faces anymore. I miss the faces that move,” while acknowledging she didn’t mean to judge but maintained her stance that “Botox is a prison that presents as stoicism in a time women should be f**king ROARING.”

For now, fans will be keeping Jamil in their thoughts as she focuses on healing and hopes to return to the spotlight soon.
