Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton remains hospitalized following a distressing self-harm incident that was broadcast live on TikTok earlier this month.
On August 4, authorities responded to Perez’s Miami home after the 48-year-old went live during the episode, which left viewers deeply unsettled. He sustained multiple injuries, some requiring surgery, and was subsequently placed under psychiatric evaluation in accordance with Florida’s Baker Act. Insiders report that Perez, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., is currently disoriented and believes the year to be 2016.
Sources close to the situation reveal that Perez has been asking for pop star Katy Perry, with whom he once shared a close friendship. The insider suggested Perez still views their relationship as deeply significant, stating he believed he had been instrumental in Perry’s rise to fame. However, the pair have not maintained contact in recent years.
Another source noted that Perez has not received messages or visits from many former celebrity friends, despite attempts to reconcile with some of them in the past.
Perez remains under inpatient care, receiving round-the-clock psychiatric support. During his stay, he has been restricted from using electronic devices and has not been allowed to view the disturbing TikTok footage, which remained online for over 15 minutes.
The incident unfolded as Perez livestreamed himself covered in blood, using a large knife, and speaking incoherently. His sister, Barbara Lavandeira, discovered him in the bathroom and quickly removed his three children, aged 13, 11, and 8, from the home. Their mother has since filed for temporary custody following the hospitalization.
Loved ones emphasize that Perez is still struggling significantly despite ongoing treatment. Representatives for Perez Hilton have not yet commented on the situation.
