Old board to remain in charge for now at troubled Kalamazoo food co-op, judge says

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo County judge has approved a preliminary injunction to keep a newly elected board from taking over a local food cooperative.

Court records show the judge ruled following Thursday arguments that the original board of directors remained in charge of the People’s Food Co-op in Kalamazoo.

An order dated Friday (PDF) says no one may interfere with or disrupt normal business at the co-op store, including sales and payroll, nor may they change the locks. Keys or passwords obtained by new leaders must be given back to the reinstated board…
