BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County is closing its doors and pursuing dissolution of the organization after offering resources to local families affected by dementia for over four decades.
The ADAKC Board of Directors made the decision, according to officials. ADAKC has reportedly ceased operations as of Thursday, Sept. 3.

“This is not the ending any of us wanted,” said ADAKC Executive Director Tamara Baker in a press release Friday.
“Our Board, staff and supporters fought incredibly hard to find a way forward because we understand how deeply families need this support. After exploring every responsible option available to us, we reached the heartbreaking conclusion that ADAKC is no longer in a position to continue operating.”…
