NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation into a stolen vehicle at a Dickerson Pike motel Thursday quickly escalated into a shootout between Nashville officers and a man wanted out of Cheatham County for the last three years.
Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, the Metro Nashville Police Department said East Precinct personnel responded to the Royal Inn, located in the 2900 block of Dickerson Pike, after a stolen Infiniti Q50 was found in the parking lot. Motel staff reportedly told authorities the car’s three occupants were in a first-floor room.
Law enforcement said they knocked for a few minutes before opening the door, at which point a man and a woman came out. However, the third individual — identified as Christopher Whitaker, 51, of Hendersonville — allegedly barricaded himself in the bathroom before he started shooting at officers…
