Knoxville Police Chief set to return to duty on Sunday after one-month suspension

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Police Chief Paul Noel is set to return to the job on Sunday after one month of being suspended.

Noel was suspended without pay following an investigation finding that he exchanged inappropriate text messages with a subordinate officer. Those messages were flirtatious and sexually suggestive. However, according to the findings of the investigative report, Noel and the subordinate said there was no physical interaction.

Before his suspension began last month, Noel apologized for his actions and accepted responsibility for them. Records from KPD and the New Orleans Police Department, where Noel worked previously, obtained by 6 News did not include any disciplinary records or reports of wrongdoing…
