Clever’s new Chief of Police looks to emphasize stability and community engagement

CLEVER, Mo. (KY3) – The city of Clever now has its fourth police chief since 2024. The city promoted Sergeant Daniel Walker in July to the position. It happened after city leaders considered shutting down the department.

“I have full confidence that [the Christian County Sheriff’s Office] could do a great job if they were placed in a role where they would provide coverage for the city. But I think it’s completely different to have a department that the city can call their own, and officers that know the community,” said Clever’s new Chief of Police, Daniel Walker. “It’s a small town. You start to know people, and it’s really important to have that close community relationship that a smaller office like this could provide.”
