On Saturday, Ohio State did something that usually happens at the end of a college football season.
The Buckeyes decided to hold Senior Day before their 2026 season opener against Ball State, honoring their senior class in Week 1 rather than waiting until their final regular-season home game against their rival, the Michigan Wolverines.

Senior Day has traditionally been reserved for the Buckeyes’ final home game, recognizing the seniors as they prepare to take the field one last time at their home stadium in Columbus. However, head coach Ryan Day had already explained in August that Ohio State decided to make the change in part to allow the team to keep its focus on “The Game” — the November 28 clash against Michigan.
