WASHINGTON (7News) — After four straight days of heat, the D.C. area gets a welcome break Saturday.
Afternoon temperatures will top out in the lower to mid-80s — noticeably more comfortable than the recent heat wave — although skies will stay mostly cloudy for much of the day.
A disturbance moving overhead could spark a few scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm, especially from late morning into the afternoon. Rain coverage remains uncertain, and the best chance may be south and west of D.C. Most places will stay dry for much of the day. Storms are expected to remain below severe limits, but keep an umbrella nearby for outdoor plans.
By Saturday evening, shower chances fade, and skies begin to gradually clear. Temperatures slip into the mid-60s overnight.
The second half of Labor Day weekend looks even better. High pressure builds on Sunday and Labor Day, bringing more sunshine, lower humidity, and highs in the lower 80s. Dew points fall into the 50s — that crisp, less-sticky air you can actually feel — with pleasant mornings in the low 60s.
