LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A 12-year-old Williamston boy was killed, and his 13-year-old sister was critically injured Saturday morning when an SUV struck them as they rode bicycles on the shoulder of Grand River Avenue in Leroy Township, Michigan State Police said.
Troopers from the MSP Lansing Post were called to the crash near N. Meech Road at about 11:35 a.m. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His sister was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 64-year-old Williamston woman, was heading west in her Ford Explorer when she hit the two children. Both children were wearing helmets. The woman remained at the scene, police told 6 News, and no arrests were made.
State police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash. Investigators have not said whether the woman faces any charges…
