Bay Area city’s second bicycle traffic fatality in two days

A man was fatally struck by a car early Friday in San Jose’s second bicycle traffic fatality in two days, police said.

The bicyclist was northbound on North First Street around 4:20 a.m. Friday when he was struck by a 2024 Toyota Corolla crossing on Trimble Road on a green light, according to the San Jose Police Department. The motorist remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

In a separate incident, a man riding an electric bicycle was struck by a dump truck near Lanai Avenue at 7:45 a.m. Thursday while both were westbound on Tully Road toward Highway 101. The driver of the 2012 Freightliner dump truck, which wasn’t a city vehicle, remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said…
