OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Dozens of BMO Financial Group customers in Omaha say they woke up Saturday with no money in their bank accounts after the company sold 138 branches in 11 states to First Citizens Bank.
BMO announced the sale on its website Friday. Saturday morning, dozens of people showed up at BMO locations after their checking and savings accounts had been zeroed out.
One customer shared a letter with First Alert 6 in which BMO said the customer’s account would convert to a First Citizens account beginning Friday, and that the new account could be used for all transactions starting after Labor Day weekend.
