ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Upstate New York is well known for its heavy winter snow, but on a scorching summer afternoon, local residents are lining up for a very different kind of icy relief.
The sharp, rhythmically scraped sound of metal against a solid block of ice was once a defining rhythm of summer in many neighborhoods, but over time, it became a distant memory. Resident Eddie Matos noticed the absence and decided it was time to step in.
