JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A Jackson City Councilman is calling for answers more than a month after a woman was found hanging from a tree behind a home.
Councilman Kenneth Stokes spoke outside City Hall Sunday, saying the family of Tasia Fortune asked him to get the City Council to pass a resolution demanding they get help toward justice in the case.
Stokes said the Jackson Police Department, the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office, the Hinds County Coroner and the U.S. Attorney’s Office have not responded to his letters asking about the status of the investigation.
Stokes said people in his ward, where Fortune lived and where the hanging happened, are concerned about the lack of response.
