Omaha mother turns grief into support after son’s homicide

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Cherie Carter lost her son Garion just over a decade ago. She says he was a victim of gang violence.

“I still grieve. It never goes away. It’s not momentary. This just brings up a lot,” Carter said.

Losing her son

“It ended in a tragic situation where he was ambushed coming out of his girlfriend’s house…Three guys, he was shot with three guns…He ended up bleeding out. They took him to surgery and he passed away,” Carter said.

It took over three years for her family to get justice…
