Orlando Health has launched a new spine center across the Tampa Bay area, opening walk-in clinics in St. Petersburg and Wesley Chapel that let patients see a specialist for back and spine pain without booking an appointment first. The health system rolled out the program this week with additional locations in Tampa and Brandon, bringing together orthopedic, neurosurgical and pain management physicians under one coordinated model.
According to St Pete Catalyst, the Orlando Health Spine Center is designed to provide prompt diagnosis and treatment for patients dealing with back and spine concerns, pulling specialists from multiple disciplines into a single point of care. The walk-in option at the St. Petersburg and Wesley Chapel practices means patients can seek evaluation for sudden or worsening pain without waiting on a referral or scheduled slot, while the four sites together cover Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco counties, according to Becker’s Spine Review. The trade publication reports the launch deploys seven dedicated providers across six regional cities.
Part of a Broader West Florida Buildout
The Tampa Bay spine center is not a standalone project. Orlando Health first introduced this unified spine-care model in Central Florida in March 2025, spreading it across 16 locations with 29 providers by combining specialists from its Jewett Orthopedic Institute and Neuroscience Institute, per Orlando Health’s own account of the program’s origins. The Tampa Bay version extends that same playbook west across the bay.
The clinical workforce behind the expansion took shape gradually. In July 2025, Orlando Health folded 20 orthopedic physicians and 16 physician assistants from Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health into its Jewett Orthopedic Institute on the west coast, a move that included rebranding clinic locations in Brandon, North Tampa, South Tampa, Wiregrass and Zephyrhills, per PR Newswire. That integration built much of the physician base now staffing the new spine sites.
A Hospital System Still Rebuilding Its Reputation
Orlando Health’s presence in St. Petersburg dates to October 2020, when the system acquired Bayfront Health St. Petersburg after the St. Petersburg City Council approved a 50-year land lease transfer, according to Florida Politics.
