Luke Fickell’s postgame answer to Wisconsin’s second-half collapse is concerning

The Wisconsin Badgers looked like they were back and were rolling in the first half. The only touchdown allowed was gifted to Notre Dame by the refs. Wisconsin then went into the locker room down three points, 13-10, and ready to capture the same energy, intensity, and momentum in the second half and maybe, just maybe, knock off No. 4 Notre Dame. Except the same Badgers didn’t come back out.

The team lost the spark, the edge, the ability to respond to the punches thrown by Notre Dame. It was literally the tale of two halves. Which is exactly how Luke Fickell started his explanation of what happened, but then he didn’t have answers or, maybe better yet, he had “non-answers.” This is all so concerning and should make a Wisconsin fan wonder if Fickell has this team headed in the right direction.

His long answer is below, but it was lacking. Wisconsin fans will leave frustrated after listening to it: “We kind of held the energy and created a lot of the momentum in the first half,” Luke Fickell explained, “And in the second half we had none.” What’s the answer? Well, he didn’t seem to have one post-game, and that’s a problem…
