Gunfire erupts amid “multiple disturbances” near U of M campus

(Minneapolis MN-) KSTP TV says two men are expected to recover after they were shot early Sunday morning in Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota’s East Bank campus.

The shooting prompted multiple safety alerts warning U of M students to stay clear of the scene. The Minneapolis Police Department said its officers were assisting University of Minnesota police with “multiple disturbances” in the area of Fourth Street Southeast and 13th Avenue Southeast when they heard gunshots around 2:41 a.m. Two men were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police detained several people, including a man who had a handgun without a permit to carry.
