High surf and flooding are still affecting coastal Southern California communities Tuesday as the remnants of former Hurricane Marie linger over the region.
KTLA’s Eric Spillman noted that a seaside stretch of the Long Beach Peninsula took a “pounding” over the Labor Day weekend. On Tuesday morning, high tides were still threatening to breach the seawall and damage homes.
“We’re keeping an eye on the surf this morning … an hour ago there was no problem standing where we are standing – there was no chance we were going to get wet – but now [the waves] are starting to break at the bottom of the seawall,” Spillman said just after 7 a.m…
