Wiener dog charity races raise money for Bossier City animal rescues

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Dog owners gathered at Louisiana Downs for the annual wiener dog charity races, an event organizers say draws the community together for a cause that goes beyond competition.

Kyle Duke, Bean’s owner, said the event’s atmosphere keeps people coming back.

“It’s just the atmosphere — all the people, all the little kids. They like to see the dogs run, everyone wants to pet them, and you have a good time,” Duke said.

Proceeds benefit animal rescues

The Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, Robinson’s Rescue and Paws 4 Life all received proceeds from $2 wager donations made by the community…
