ALBANY — Dozens of people face charges in a multi-agency crackdown on street crimes, law enforcement leaders said Tuesday.
Last week, 41 people were charged as a result of 16 different raids and investigations in cities including Albany, Troy, Schenectady and Johnstown, FBI Albany Special Agent in Charge Craig Tremaroli said at a Monday news conference. Seven of those people face federal charges, including several who face narcotics distribution charges, a person facing weapons offenses and another charged with child sex trafficking.
The interagency raids were deemed “Operation Tidal Wave 2.0,” named after a multi-agency investigation last summer. That FBI-led financial crimes investigation, assisted by agencies like Albany and Troy police, led to raids at over 15 locations and the seizure of nearly 150 firearms.
