Two charged in armed robbery, shooting at Lawton Skate Park

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) brought two men into custody after a shooting and an alleged armed robbery on Monday.

Cody McNabb, 21, and Conner Pease, 21, were both preliminarily charged with Armed Robbery resulting in bodily injury, a level two felony, and are being held in the Allen County Jail without bond.

FWPD was dispatched to Lawton Skatepark on Monday at around 9:11 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting an armed robbery attempt and shooting, according to court documents obtained from the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim told police he was sitting near a power station at the skate park, charging his cellphone, when two men approached him; one demanded his bag. The victim refused to hand the bag over, and the men walked away, only to return with a semi-automatic handgun and demand the bag again. The victim refused once again, and the man said, “he would just have to shoot him”. The man fired a shot into the ground and another shot into the victim’s left foot, causing serious injury, and both men proceeded to flee on foot.
