STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s three City Council members announced legislation Wednesday to permanently co-name streets at five borough sites that commemorate the victims, families and heroes of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
City Council Minority Leader David Carr, Majority Whip Kamillah Hanks and Councilman Frank Morano introduced the measure as part of an initiative by City Council Speaker Julie Menin to recognize significant Sept. 11 sites across the city. The legislation is expected to pass at Thursday’s Stated Meeting.
The five street dedications include Staten Island Postcards September 11th Memorial Way at the intersection of Richmond Terrace and Hamilton Avenue in St. George, Angels’ Circle at the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Fingerboard Road in Grasmere, Rescue 5 September 11th Memorial Way on Clove Road between Oder Avenue and Targee Street in Concord, Monsignor Farrell H.S. 9/11 Wall of Remembrance Way at the intersection of Amber Street and Amboy Road in Oakwood, and Fresh Kills 9/11 Recovery Heroes Way at the intersection of West Service Road and Muldoon Avenue…
