ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Regional Food Bank announced the return of an annual event that brings together chefs and local farmers. The 32nd annual CHEFS event will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29 at the Albany Capital Center.

Top chefs will come collaborate with farmers, producers and culinary professionals to raise awareness and funds to help alleviate food insecurity in the Capital Region. This year, four celebrity chefs will prepare unique meals with locally grown fruits, vegetables and products for a memorable meal.

- Chef Paul Rother, of Capital Region BOCES
Guests can expect a lively tasting reception featuring culinary and beverage partners that highlight New York City street foods. Similar to past CHEFS events, the culinary dining experience won’t have any food waste, with all unserved food being donated to Albany City Mission.
“At a time with costs rising at the pumps, at the grocery store, seemingly everywhere, we know families, and especially children, are struggling with hunger,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “Albany County is proud of the work we are doing in partnership with the Regional Food Bank to ensure that we are providing for our communities in need. We are happy to be hosting CHEFS: Big Apple, an annual event at the Albany Capital Center, which our foodie friends mark on their calendar each year for a great evening and an opportunity to support this great cause.”

Awards will also be presented at the CHEFS: Big Apple event to award-winning American chef Ric Orlando and the culinary acclaimed Purnomo Family. They are this year’s recipients of the Mark Quandt Service Award, named after the Regional Food Bank’s first CEO, who served for 38 years.
