Blackhawk Christian soccer sweeps rival Canterbury at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Blackhawk Christian’s soccer programs flexed over rival Canterbury with a pair of wins during Tuesday’s doubleheader at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium as part of the PSMxONE Soccer Series.

The Braves girls team held off a late rally from Canterbury, 3-2, to open the doubleheader. Shalom Opliger put Blackhawk Christian on the board in the 20th minute, firing a shot just through the outstretched hands of Canterbury’s goalie. Freshman Charlotte Helmuth doubled the Braves lead just before halftime.

Canterbury climbed back in the second half with a goal from Brady Ryland. However, Helmuth netted her second goal of the night on a set piece with 8:37 left in regulation. Ryland answered again for Canterbury, scoring off a corner kick in the final minutes. However, the Cavaliers could not climb back to force a draw…
