Packed crowd at Lt. Governor Hashmi’s Energy Costs listening tour

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi heard from residents about what would be the largest utility merger in American history during a Norfolk stop Tuesday on her listening tour of the state.

The lieutenant governor was accompanied by other state delegates for a thought-sparking conversation with Virginia residents who have concerns about the potential merger of Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy, almost all of them surrounding the topic of affordability.

But the conversation started way before the 6 p.m. session, with members of the “Stop NextEra Coalition” holding a demonstration calling for the stop to the merger, noting they can’t take the risk of energy bills getting higher…
