Modern diner with adjoining bar from industry vets coming soon to McKinley haunt

The former chef and bar manager of Corbeau have partnered on a new venture set to replace Fergie’s on the Ave, the retro diner with an attached lounge that has held down the corner of McKinley for around two decades.

Maxine’s & The Well, an upscale-ish diner by day and chill tavern with from-scratch, seasonal fare and cocktails — or just a shot and a beer — by night, aims for a late 2026 opening at 3504 McKinley Ave.

Chef Craig Tronset and bar pro Kylee Agostini secured the keys in the final days of August and have begun tearing out old carpet in the bar and relinquishing an amalgamation of tchotchkes left behind by the previous owner. An Instagram account appeared mid-month, and the business partners posted an official reveal Aug. 27 with a handwritten note of Sharpie on craft paper masking-taped to the facade: “We’ll see you soon “ish” McKinley! — Your New Neighbors.”…
