Dexter Area Firefighters were called to the Inverness Tavern on September 8, on the report that smoke was detected inside.
The Sun Times News followed up with Dexter Area Fire Department (DAFD) Fire Chief Doug Armstrong, who said the department responded to Inverness Tavern at 6:30 p.m. on that Tuesday, following a report of the odor of smoke inside the building.
The tavern is located at 13996 N. Territorial Road.
Armstrong said an off-duty firefighter “who was dining in the restaurant at the time assisted staff with evacuating the building and investigating the source of the smoke while emergency responders were en route.”…
