Each Sunday morning, children at Double Oak Community Church in Mt Laurel are greeted by a man in a golf polo, cargo shorts and fun socks. They call him Mr. James, and he will spend the next hour or so sharing his faith with them.
“That’s the best thing about his week and the most important part of his week,” Karen Spann said of her husband’s role leading children’s worship.
Originally from Greenville, a small town in South Alabama, James Spann has loved weather since he was a child.
“When I was growing up, there were no cellphones, no video games, and in the summer, we’d just go play in the woods,” James said. “One of the greatest joys was just sitting on the ground looking straight up at clouds on a hot summer day.”…
