FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A local organization, Just Neighbors says it is turning away families with children every day as it races to build emergency shelter space before winter.
Just Neighbors is asking for donations as city leaders debate where to place homeless services downtown.
Shirley Rork has spent 12 years helping run Just Neighbors. She said this year, demand is greater than in years past, to the point where the organization cannot take everyone in.
“I cannot imagine how scary it is not to have a safe place for my children to sleep, or to know that I can be with them and keep them safe,” Rork said…
